Course Outlines
MISSION STATEMENT
To provide a high quality Christian education in language programme to prepare teachers for public and private secondary schools in Rwanda and abroad.
OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of the programme are:
- To prepare English and French teachers for Secondary, high school and intermediatestages in Rwanda.
- To focus on practical courses to give students the skills of English and French reading, listening, speaking and writing.
- To contribute in the preparation of different studies and researches to qualify graduates in English and French.
- To partake in the organization of training courses for English and French teachers at the Rwandan schools and giving them an idea about the key aspects as well as the ongoing changes in such field.
- To study English and French literature with its different genres across different historical periods.
- To enhance the spirit of creativity and intellection of students and preparing them to criticize and analyze books as well as literary publications within the Adventist philosophy of education and spirit of prophecy
- To make a comprehensive study of languages in general and English and French in particular as a second language regarding its sounds, letters, development and association between a language and ways of teaching them as a foreign language.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The programme of Bachelor of Arts in both French and English Teaching will primarily produce qualified teachers of French and English for secondary school. Besides this, it will train people capable of managing problems related to learning difficulties, and to occupy educational administration positions. Trained people in this are may also pursue postgraduate studies. The functions include the following :
1. Major functions:
- Teachers of French and English in all secondary schools
- Education advisors at primary and secondary education
- Evaluators of educational curricula
- Researchers in educational psychology and other areas of research in relation to the specialisation.
2. Minor functions :

Study deputy principals
- Primary and secondary school principals
- District and province education directors
